Wig Cap Or No Wig Cap?

I would like to start by saying that choosing to wear a wig cap is a personal choice. There are also a lot of pro’s and con’s, which I will list below to help you make an informed decision as to whether or not wearing a wig cap is for you.

Pro's

For hygiene purposes, wearing a wig cap will stop product and dirt from building up and transferring to the wig lace.

It helps to make the wig more secure on your head making it less likely to move/ come loose.

They are inexpensive and easily replaceable, you can purchase from nearly all hair shops and online stores such as amazon and eBay.

It can make wearing your wig more comfortable, as it stops the wig from rubbing on your scalp. One of the main questions people often ask when querying wearing wigs is that they can’t imagine the wig feeling comfortable on top of their head.

Those with a sensitive scalp may find that wearing a wig cap make their scalp less irritable.

Majority of wigs have clips inside the wig cap to help them sink into the hair and keep the wig in place. The cap acts as a barrier between your hair and the clips and prevents your hair from being pulled out by the clips. A wig can can also stop the edges of your hair from rubbing preventing hair loss.

Con's

Wearing a wig cap especially during physical activity, can make the head feel warmer and uncomfortable due to the fabric in which the cap is made of.

Can easily be lost! You may laugh but just like hair bobbles and hair grips they have a sneaky way of disappearing!

Can feel tight on your head at first, it takes time to get used to how the wig cap fits on your head. After time it will feel as though you haven’t got anything on.

Sometimes the wig can slip back and your wig cap will be on show unbeknownst to the wig wearer. Be vigilant especially when removing headgear such as a hat/helmet.

How To Wear A Wig Cap?

Ensure your hair is braided back, the smaller the braids the less bulky the wig will look on your head.

Position your hands in either side of the cap to stretch it out and gently place onto your head. Use one hand to secure the cap at the front of your head and the other hand to pull the cap until you reach the back of your head where the hair stops.

Then use on hand to gently move the wig cap to ensure it covers your head completely. It shouldn’t feel too tight that its uncomfortable but it should be secure enough that it doesn’t move easily.

My Personal Choice

I wear a wig because it works for me. I choose to wear a wig cap because it not only makes wearing a wig more comfortable but keeps my wig cleaner for longer. As i oil my braids underneath my wig cap to ensure that my scalp is moisturised and my hair is growing. The wig cap acts as a barrier and stops the transference of oils and dirt from transferring to the lace under my wig. Keeping it cleaner for longer. It also stops the wig from smelling

One of the best things about human hair wigs is that they can be styled in many different ways. You can curl them, straighten them, and even dye them. Unlike synthetic hair, dyeing natural hair can absorb regular hair dye, making the process simpler and more versatile. This means that you can change your look as often as you like without damaging your hair. However, it’s important to note that not all wigs are created equal. Fortunately, there are a few simple tricks that you can use to transform a brassy wig into a stunning hair piece. In this blog post, I’m going to share with you two of my favourite methods for banishing brassiness and giving your wig a beautiful, natural-looking colour.

Quick Tips: – Always use distilled or demineralised water in your steamer to prevent build-up. – Ensure the wig is completely dry before storing or wearing. – Regularly clean your steamer to ensure its longevity and effectiveness. Steaming is a simple yet effective way to breathe life back into your wig, ensuring it looks fabulous and feels great wear after wear. So, the next time your wig seems a little lacklustre, give it a steamy treat! Wigs, whether synthetic or natural, are a fantastic way to change up your look, protect your natural hair, or provide a solution for hair loss. But like all good things, they require care to remain at their best. One of the most effective methods to rejuvenate a wig, especially a synthetic wig, is steaming. Here’s a brief guide on why and how to steam your wig. This method is particularly beneficial for synthetic wigs, which can be more challenging to style and maintain. Why Steam Your Wig? 1. Eliminate Tangles: Over time, wigs can develop knots and tangles. Steaming can help with fiber relaxation, making it easier to brush and style. 2. Restore Shine: Daily wear and exposure can diminish your wig’s shine. Steaming reintroduces moisture, aiding in moisture retention and reviving its natural sheen. 3. Maintain Shape: Wigs, especially curly or wavy ones, can lose their shape. A quick steam can help redefine those gorgeous curls and waves, whether you want to keep a curly wig curly or make a curly wig straight. Steaming can also make a straight wig curly, providing versatility in styling options.

The intricate world of hair replacement and extensions captivates me, offering a multitude of options to suit various needs. When choosing hair for a wig or topper, one of my top priorities is the fibre type, particularly the denier of the hair. Denier, which measures the thickness of the hair fibres, serves as a more relevant categorisation than the geographic origin of the hair. In this post, I will explore the attributes of the three main types of human hair used in the industry—Chinese, Indian, and European denier hair—and discuss their impact on hairpiece design and upkeep.
